The seventh edition of the market, which will take place every Wednesday and Thursday until 19 August, was inaugurated last week and was well received by the public.
This year the marina of Puerto Portals is celebrating the seventh edition of the The Sunset Market, the freshest and most summery market on the island that takes place every Wednesday and Thursday until 19th August from 18h to 00h between the rocking of the boats and the evening sun.
More than twenty exhibitors distributed between the main dock and the boulevard with a wide range of products: Mexican design hats, handmade ceramics, Mallorcan baskets, accessories, art, macramé designs and decoration.
The island’s groups will put rhythm to this summer walk every thursday from 21h to 22.30h: Hot Hit will play pop&rock, Honolili Music will add a tropical dream pop style, and The Slabs will rock the boulevard with their signature indie vibe. The characteristic swing of Monkey Doo will be present on the last Thursday of July, and during the month of August 2017. Los Peligrosos Gentleman, Lostin Translation y Julia Eme will provide the soundtrack to the event.
The little ones also have their own space, a route that immerses them in children’s stories ¡Fuera plásticos!, by author Line Hadsbjerg and illustrated by Kate Louisa John in collaboration with the association Clean Wave, with the aim of making new generations aware of the importance of being sustainable, reusing, recycling and, above all, being respectful of the environment.
In the artist’s corner will pass by Marina Pipkin, mallorcan artist which, with the support of Rotary Club Palma Almudaina, collaborates with the NGO Naüm, which runs a socio-educational project for children in the Son Roca neighbourhood with the Sisters of Charity of San Vicente de Paul. Their work will also be exhibited Luciana Román, who, through his colourful paintings, shows his way of seeing nature; or Belén Pez, who uses the Mediterranean as the backdrop against which his work is inspired.
The association Mallorca Sense Fam will be present for another year with the aim of raising funds to cover the needs of people at risk of social exclusion, last year they managed to raise 5,000 euros with a stall of Mallorcan fabrics and accessories.
The port offers a world of flavours among its rich gastronomic offer, along the promenade you can taste Mediterranean cuisine at the restaurant Baiben o Flanigan; savour delicious Italian food at Ritzi or La Concha; or taste the traditional Mallorcan food at S’Esponja Port. An ideal plan for summer evenings.
