CONTEXT

We are at a time of change

at a global level, of transition towards models that are more responsible for the impact they have on society and the natural environment. Biodiversity loss, rising temperatures and pollution of our seas and oceans are among the main threats that are deteriorating our natural ecosystems, which are vital for the health of the planet and human well-being.

We are a company that lives from the sea and we take responsibility for the impact we have on our environment. That is why we work and collaborate with specialised entities to reduce and improve it with commitment and action. From Puerto Portals we want to be a driving force for change in our sector by building and leading BLUE MARINA , a movement that needs all of us.

Methodology

3 pillars for the transition towards a more sustainable model

In a change that happens from the inside out.

Cultural

For change to be real, it is essential to work from the inside out. One of the main pillars of this transformation project is Culture, i.e. people. One of the first steps to be taken in order to implement any change is to involve the people who are going to be part of it.

Technical

For this pillar, we have chosen three main points on which we will focus our analysis, which in turn will help us to prepare an ambitious action plan for the port: Improving water resource management, making the port an energy efficient, digital and smart space and improving waste management.

Social

We generate actions that involve the community in the movement we have created. Many people are unaware of the importance of the oceans and seas for the balance of the planet, as well as for our own physical and mental well-being. We carry out these actions to communicate the purpose of Puerto Portals.

CULTURAL

Actions and BM! Impact

Digitisation strategies, technical improvements and energy savings in favour of the conservation of the marine environment and education in values.

Blue Marina develops all kinds of initiatives to reduce the impact on the environment and to echo the need to preserve and protect the marine ecosystems that surround us. Through the Blue Marina Education programme within the Puerto Portals Sailing School, every year people become part of the change through our summer camps and events for all ages.

Collaboration plays a key role in these actions and our programme involves leading marine conservation organisations.
