The Sunset Market, unique sunsets in Puerto Portals

Puerto Portals celebrates once again this year the freshest and most summery market of the island, The Sunset Market. The fifth edition of the event takes place every Wednesday and Thursday from July 17th to August 15th starting from 18pm until midnight at the marina’s boulevard. More than twenty exhibitors, including several caravans, offer a great variety of products where one can find all sorts of summer treasures.

Every Wednesday at 21pm the best music can be enjoyed thanks to DJ Sunset Swing, who will get all the attendees in the groove to the rhythm of the famous dance lindy hop. Thursdays will be surrounded with blues, flamenco, swing and rock n roll’s chords at the live concerts starting at 21.30pm. Los Fabulosos Globetrotters kicked-off the concerts last Thursday 18th, followed by La Kunfusión, Christa Elmer & Band Idos, Monkey Doo and, the icing on the cake will be the renowned DJ Paco Colombás, in charge of closing the fifth edition of The Sunset Market.

The artist area will be fulfilled with all sorts techniques: acrylic, oil, watercolour and even collages. On the first week, the artist Miriam CX presented her collection “Omnia”, inspired in geometry and ancient cultures; Alexandre Coll will exhibit his work “El mirall de l’ànima”, based on the intensity of the human being; Lili Devo will show us “Balearic Marin Life”, which revolves around sea life in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea. Lastly, Reyes Marfil, who defines herself as creator, self-taught and colour exorcist, will present “Hello Manoplas Concept” a mixture of collages, painted materials and watercolours.

The littlest ones can have fun in the face painting area as well as in the Sunset Kids zone. On both days, different workshops will be taking place, starting at 19pm. La Candívora, a caravan full of delicious handmade sweets, can also be found in the kids’ area.

The Sunset Market counts again this year with a Chill Out zone, where to taste the delightful cocktails of the only cocktail truck of the island: The Van Bar. Also remarkable are the succulent burgers of Manduka, that will surely thrill the public this year.

The association Mallorca Sense Fam will be present one year again with the aim of raising funds to cover the needs of people at risk of poverty, last year they managed to raise 2,600€ thanks to a second-hand book stand.

During the last edition more than 50,000 people went over to enjoy the atmosphere of The Sunset Market, that counted with the presence of an exceptional guest: Queen Sofía, who took a lovely walk along Puerto Portals’ boulevard.
