Puerto Portals fills with excitement the winter holidays with its Christmas Market

The island’s most magical market, the Christmas Market, started today with an attendance of around 1,800 people.

Puerto Portals turned on the Christmas lights, giving a start to the emblematic Christmas Market, this time of year’s most magical one. On its ninth edition, the market offers a broad activity program and more than forty stalls located between Plaza Capricho and the boulevard.

The scent of chestnuts and warm wine has surrounded close to 1,800 people who have visited the market on its first day; it started at 12pm and it will remain open until Monday, January 6th, daily from midday until 21pm (on Fridays and Saturdays until 22pm)

Ágora Portals’ school choir has inaugurated the Christmas Market activity program, singing to the rhythm of typical festive songs. Afterwards, around a hundred students have showed their abilities by performing the choreographies which they’ve learned throughout this term in the dance school Mª Antonia Mas.

In the coming days, Puerto Portals will receive the Ilustrious Balearic Bar Association’s choir and several dance academies such as, Punta Portals Dance Academy or Ángela Bruno Dance Factory. On Friday, the children’s preferred spots will open their doors: the skating rink and the exhibition ‘Modern City of Playmobil’, which sits in Plaza Capricho and will be open to the public until January 3rd from 15.30pm to 19.30pm. The little ones can enjoy the Ice Opening Party at 18pm, afterwards, the band The Turners will get everyone into the groove with their tribute to Tina Turner.

The workshop ‘Elf letters’ will give the start to Saturday; kids will meet the elves that work with Santa Claus, and they will be able to send their letters with all their Christmas wishes. The band Clau de Sol will fill the port’s boulevard with acoustic and Christmas music, starting at 19.30pm.

Sunday will start with ‘Xmas Fun Kids’ where children will have a fabulous time dancing, and the grownups will continue moving their bodies at 13pm thanks to DJ Swing. The Stromboli circus will fill up the boulevard with a show of pirouettes, summersaults and juggling, after which, the little ones can skate and play in the Ice Party at 18pm. Finally, the acclaimed vocal group Cap Pela will enliven the stage with its nine members.

The charity stall that Puerto Portals has granted throughout the event will be occupied by the NGOs Rotary International and Majorca Sense Fam, with the aim of raising funds for several projects.
